One of Hillary’s greatest pleasures in life came from being involved in her children’s activities and watching them become independent young adults.  She spent many fulfilling hours at their sports activities, cheering them on.  She was always proud of their accomplishments.  Her door was always open to her children’s many friends and she enjoyed the relationships they all shared.

In 1995, at the age of 48, Hillary was diagnosed with Pleural Mesothelioma.  She bravely fought the disease over a period of six years, but lost her battle against Mesothelioma on May 23, 2001.

During her struggle with Mesothelioma,  Hillary cherished the addition to the family, of her first grandchild, Joshua, born to her daughter Nicole, and her husband, Dan.  Her last year of life was filled with the added excitement of the expected birth of Nicole and Dan’s second child, Luke who arrived the day after her death.

Since Hillary’s death, two more grandchildren have been born into the Markis/Perrotti family.  Donnie and Bree, Hillary’s son and daughter-in-law, are the proud parents of Madison Rae and Nicole and Dan, have had their third child, Abigail.
